2009 Schedule
Currently, I don't have any classes scheduled for Summer 2009. Please check back for updates. If you're interested in booking me for a class (see some sample descriptions below), please contact me.
Greywater is Liquid Gold!
In this workshop, we will learn to harvest and use greywater through simple, reversible plumbing changes and learn techniques to decrease potable water use. Our projects will include 'unpumbing' a sink, putting a 'hippo' in a flush toilet, and identifying simple ways to streamline water use. You'll go home with hands-on experience and handouts covering what we did, and the ultimate urban greywater tool - a five gallon bucket.
Cost is $60 per person and includes the above materials and a light and wholesome snack.
Bread our Bodies
In this workshop, we'll learn how to make and bake wild yeast sourdough! We'll also engage with bread and food and how we feed our bodies on several levels - by eating bread, by talking about the mechanics of breadmaking and yeast, by kneading and baking and tasting, and through intuitive paths like guided meditation. You'll go home with hands-on bread baking experience, some bread in your belly, handouts covering what we did, and your very own sourdough starter.
Cost is $30-60 per person, sliding scale
and includes the above materials along with bread to eat during class.
Dirt and Worms
Learn about what makes a soil healthy and get hands on experience with worm composting in this workshop.
We'll talk about the components and critters found in healthy soils and also take look at worm composting or 'vermiculture' - a year-round way to build amazing soil from food waste. Go home with down and dirty vermiculture experience, handouts on soils, a guide to setting up and running a worm bin, and some worm castings.
Cost is $30-60 per person, sliding scale and includes the above materials and a light and wholesome snack.
